The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved the annual update to the five-year plan for road improvements. The director of the D-O-T planning and programming division Stuart Anderson says they’ll spend a little more once again this year.
Anderson says a big slice of the money approved is going toward bridges.
He says the amount of money spent on bridges has steadily increased and the number of structurally deficient bridges on the state highway system has been reduced from 256 in 2006 to 81 in 2015.
