For the second consecutive year, Omaha has been tabbed to claim its third-straight Summit League regular season baseball title in a preseason vote among the league’s head coaches.
The Mavericks received three first-place votes and a total of 23 points. Oral Roberts placed second with the other three first-place votes and 21 points. South Dakota State came in third with 17 points followed by defending tournament champion North Dakota State with 15 points. Western Illinois (8 points) and Fort Wayne (6 points) rounded out the poll.
Regular season play begins Feb. 13 with league play starting March 13. The top-four postseason eligible teams will compete for The Summit League Baseball Championship, hosted by South Dakota State University, May 20-23. The winner of the double-elimination format tournament will claim the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
