University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension is hosting a free cattle risk management workshop on Wednesday in Norfolk at the Lifelong Learning Center from 5 to 8:30 pm. UNL Extension Agricultural Economist Jim Jansen says they’ll be taking a look at some of the different strategies to mitigate some of the risk producers are facing with drought and price volatility.
He says LRP has been around awhile but some improvements have been made to it that can make it an effective tool for cow calf producers.
Jansen says some of the drought concerns he’s heard from producers center around forages.
The workshop is free but registration is required by Tuesday July 27 with Nebraska Extension in Madison County. (402—370—4040, or go.unl.edu//cattlerisk.
