The University of Nebraska will continue to play a key role in national defense.  The National Strategic Research Institute renewed their contract with UNL that focuses on nuclear detection and forensics, detection of chemical and biological weapons and more.  President Hank Bounds is pleased to be a part of this team.

Back in 2012, the University of Nebraska joined the National Strategic Research Institute in an $84 million contract to meet the needs of USSTRATCOM and the Department of Defense.  NSRI Founding Executive Director, retired Lt General Robert Hinson says this was a huge undertaking for all involved.

The University of Nebraska is one of only 13 university affiliated research centers in the country.
