U.S. Wheat Associates and the National Association of Wheat Growers welcomes the Obama Administration’s filing of an enforcement action at the WTO against China for its unfair domestic support policies. U.S. Wheat Associates President Alan Tracy says they’ve been working with the U.S. Trade Representative’s office on this issue for some time.
He says this is a major case the U.S. is filing with the World Trade Organization.
Tracy says not only does China have trade distorting policies but so does Turkey and Brazil. He says the cost to the U.S. wheat industry from China’s support policies is very significant.
Tracy says wheat production subsidies in China and other advanced developing countries are the single biggest policy issue affecting U.S. farm gate prices and global trade flows.
