United States Meat Exports Strong In April

April was a solid month for U.S. beef and pork exports. U.S. Meat Export Federation President and CEO Dan Halstrom says the best U.S. customers were China and Japan. He says the results were very positive especially given the impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic.

He says there was good overall demand for U.S. pork and beef and the bilateral trade pact the U.S. has with Japan helped greatly.

Halstrom says the phase one trade agreement with China has been fruitful for all U.S. ag commodities.

He says the beef trade at 1400 metric tons is just starting to ramp up as it wasn’t implemented until mid-March., but that’s expected to continue to show good progress going forward.
