The U.S. Dairy Export Council and National Milk Producers Federation are sharply criticizing Canada’s allocation of its tariff rate quotas under USMCA. Dairy Export Council and National Milk Producers Federation’s Vice President of Trade Policy Jaime Castaneda says the way Canada is allocating the TRQ gives the trade advantage to competing nations with the United States.
He says his groups are weighing in with U.S. government officials to challenge Canada on these trade distorting steps they’re taking.
Castaneda says the biggest losses seen by the U.S. dairy industry is the lack of market access which was supposed to be assured by the USMCA deal.
The official implementation of the USMCA trade pact is set for July 1.
