A bipartisan group of Senators led by Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts have introduced the Protecting America’s Food and Agriculture Act. The measure calls for authorizing the U.S Customs and Border Patrol to hire additional inspectors to fully staff America’s ports of entry. U.S. Cattlemen’s Association President Kenny Graner says they support the bill because it protects consumers and producers
He says the more inspectors the U.S. has working at the borders the better.
Graner says inspectors need to make sure whatever is coming into the U.S. has followed the proper safety protocols.
Graner is optimistic about the bill’s chances for passage since Senate Ag Chairman Pat Roberts is one of the main sponsors.
