A one of a kind sheep sale is taking place this Saturday in Spencer, Iowa. Dan Morrical, Extension Sheep Specialist at Iowa State University, says it’s called the Center of the Nation auction. It’s unique because every animal consigned is part of the National Sheep Improvement Program and carries elite genetics.
He says the sale attracts consignments and buyers from all over the Midwest and features a variety of sheep breeds.
Morrical says last year the sale averaged $750 a head and they’re hoping to build on that success. He says they will also have educational seminars on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
