Unapproved Biotech Wheat Found In Montana

Unapproved biotech wheat has been discovered in a second state. APHIS says Monsanto’s Roundup Ready wheat has been found in Montana, at a research facility for Montana State University in Huntley. Steve Mercer with U.S. Wheat Associates says the agency and industry have determined it’s a local compliance issue.
Mercer says APHIS has assured all customers that the Roundup Ready wheat did not make its way into commercial supplies and poses no health or safety concerns.
The announcement comes at the same time APHIS announced they haven’t determined how the first discovery of GMO wheat last year in Oregon escaped field trials that ended nearly a decade ago.
