The University of Nebraska will lead with its strength to research what happens to the gut that affects our health.
The Nebraska Food for Health Center is a 40-Million-dollar project using researchers in agriculture and medicine on three campuses. They will seek ways to address abnormalities in the gut microbiome, linked to a number of diseases.
Director Andrew Benson says this is a natural for the University of Nebraska. . .
Benson says university researchers have already done some of the work to generate different combinations of nutrients not commonly seen in agricultural production. . .
The center got off the ground through a three million dollar gift from the Raikes Foundation of Seattle, founded by a native Nebraskan.
