Nebraska cattle producer Craig Uden is the new President of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He was elected at the annual meeting last week in Nashville, where members also set their policy direction for 2017. He says a priority for NCBA is to work with President Trump to push forward trade deals.

He says another reason trade is critical is U.S. meat supplies are growing and they need additional markets for U.S. beef.

Uden says they are pleased President Trump wants to roll back a number of regulations including the Waters of the U.S. rule and the GIPSA Farmer Fair Practice Rules.

Uden says the comment period on the GIPSA Farmer Fair Practice rules has been extended until April 22 giving the industry more time to put forward substantive comments.
