U.S. Wheat Associates are holding their summer conference in San Diego this week. South Dakota Wheat Commission Executive Director Reid Christopherson is participating in the event. He says there are a variety of issues they’re covering from new wheat variety developments, market developments and health of the crop.

Christopherson says the various wheat state organizations have many of the same problems and challenges they’re facing.

Christopherson says U.S. Wheat Associates is working with the National Association of Wheat Growers on a joint committee looking at biotech wheat.

Christopherson says researchers are continuing to study biotech wheat in the lab while the committee is also working on it and looking at various possible future policies and development.
