The U.S. unemployment rate slid to 3.7 percent, the lowest in 49 years.

Economist Eric Thompson with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says that wages aren’t keeping up.

Thompson says wage growth has been a little stronger in Nebraska.   He says the state is helped with an education tradition.

Nebraska’s unemployment rate has been under three percent for most of the year.
