U.S. soybean leaders are at the China Food Safety and Security Summit this week to talk to their number one customer about biotechnology, sustainability and precision agriculture. United Soybean Board Vice Chair Jared Hagert says they’re hoping to make headway with Chinese agricultural leaders and government officials on synchronizing their biotech approval process with the U.S.

Hagert says China’s slow approval process is backing up biotech traits in the pipeline. That’s costing not only U.S. farmers, but also U.S. and Chinese consumers.

He says they’re also going to talk about how U.S. farmers are producing the soybean crop sustainably.

The U.S. even has a Sustainability Pledge that they share with their customers certifying that U.S. soybeans are sustainable.
