The United States sheep industry is one sector of agriculture benefiting from the recent $100 million of Agricultural Trade Promotion funding provided by the Trump administration. American Sheep Industry Association Executive Director Peter Orwick says that money will open markets to help sheep producers recover from lost exports to China.
He says the trade war with China has had a negative impact on America’s sheep producers.
Orwick says the Trump administration has done a better job of achieving additional market access for America’s sheep growers than the previous two administrations combined.
Orwick says setting up, finding and expanding new markets is a tall order but the recent trade promotion funds will help greatly in that effort.
