U.S. Poultry and Egg Exports Important, But Sensitive

Exports are extremely important for U.S. poultry and egg producers and its an industry that’s highly competitive because of the large global production base. This makes developing and keeping markets open a tough job for the U.S.A. Poultry and Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) and export consulting firm Bryant Christie. Director of Technology Jeremy Bishop says the poultry export market is a sensitive one.

He says despite the challenges poultry exports are growing significantly and the industry is optimistic about the future, due to the increase in global population and protein consumption.

Bishop says soybean farmers and the price they receive for their product are directly impacted by poultry exports as the industry is their number one customer.

Bishop says they also work on export and market development projects with the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. And the Council was an early supporter of USAPEEC.
