The U.S. House today approved legislation repealing the Estate Tax. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal was pleased with the passage and is hopeful the Senate will follow suit. He says however, it’ll be a challenge to get a veto proof majority going forward.

Vanderwal says the estate tax hurts not only farmers and ranchers but businesses as well. He says agriculture is hit the hardest however.

Vanderwal says his group’s next step is to work with Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds to try and convince their colleagues to back the repeal going forward.
