The U.S. House passed  a reauthorization of the U.S. Grain Standards Act. American Soybean Association President, Wade Cowan says the bill requires swift action by the Federal Grain Inspection Service in the event of a disruption in export inspection services.

Cowan says while they’re happy with the House approval, they prefer the language in the Senate bill and are hoping conferees will act quickly to finalize the bill.

Cowan says it’s critical the reauthorization begins by September 30, because important provisions of the grain standards act will expire. He says that will put the reliability of export inspection of soybeans and grain at risk.
