The first team of the Tyson Meals that Matter Mobile arrived in Pilger, Nebraska on Tuesday afternoon. The disaster relief truck is capable of storing 20,000 pounds of food for relief victims and volunteers. The truck served 3,500 meals for its first lunch upon arriving in the community. Patrick Bourke, a member of the Meals that Matter Program, says they’ve been to several disasters around the US but he’s never seen community support like in Pilger.
Bourke says the disaster relief truck will stay in Pilger until it is no longer needed.
Meals that Matter plans on continuing its support through the weekend.
