Two members of the Minnesota Twins and three players for the Kansas City Royals were named to the American League All Star team Sunday.
Minnesota closer Glen Perkins makes his second All Star squad and catcher Kurt Suzuki earns his first All Star appearance. Perkins is 3-0 with 20 saves this season while Suzuki is hitting .308 with 34 runs batted in.
Kanas City catcher Salvador Perez, originally selected as a reserve, will start for the American League in place of the injured Matt Wieters of the Orioles. Outfielder Alex Gordon and closer Greg Holland will also represent the Royals.
