Two Minnesota operations were selected as National Beef Quality Assurance or BQA winners at the National Cattle Industry Convention in Phoenix. BLAC-X Farms and Jay and Peter Bakken, of rural Luverne were selected as the National Feedyard BQA Award winner for 2018.

Jay Bakken says several other producers are following the BQA practices they’ve implemented on their operation as a result of them sharing their feedlot data with other producers.

He says they’ve hosted a number of on farm tours for consumers to also get their message out.

Central Livestock, headquartered in South St. Paul, Minnesota, was selected as the National Marketer BQA award winner for 2018. Jeff Reed received the award on behalf of Central Livestock.
