Two Killed in I-90 Accident Near Brandon

Two people died and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday morning near Brandon.

Names of the four people are not being released pending notification of family members. They were the only people involved in the crash.

A 2002 Chevrolet CWSI and a 1998 Subaru Forester collided on Interstate 90, near mile marker 406. Both vehicles rolled into the north ditch.

The Subaru’s 38-year-old female driver and 44-year-old male passenger were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The third occupant, an 11-year-old female, received serious non-life threatening injuries.

A 39-year-old male, who was driving the Chevrolet, also was not wearing a seatbelt and received life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the state Division of Criminal Investigation, Brandon Police Department, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Fire Rescue, South Dakota Department of Transportation and Med Star.
