Senior Megan Waytashek (Lino Lakes, Minn.) picked up her second honor Monday when she was named the Summit League Player of the Week after helping the South Dakota State women’s basketball team to a 1-0 week.
Waytashek, who was named the College Sports Madness Summit League Mid-Major Player of the Week earlier in the day, earned her second Summit League Player of the Week honor this season and fifth of her career.
In the 74-61 win at Western Illinois Jan. 21, the 6-foot-0 guard/forward had game highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season and fifth of her career. Waytashek shot 53 percent (10 of 19) from the field and 40 percent (2 of 5) from three-point range in the win. Her 22 points were also the fifth time this season she has scored 20-plus points in a game.
South Dakota State begins a three-game homestand Thursday when it hosts Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.
