Two people died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash east of Salem.
Names of the two people involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 1999 Toyota Camry was westbound on South Dakota Highway 38 when it crossed the center line and collied with an eastbound 2007 Mercury Milan.
Both the 22-year-old female driver of the Mercury and the 60-year-old male driver of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing seat belts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
