Two people are dead and another in critical condition following a high speed crash on Highway 50 on the eastside of Yankton.
Yankton County Sheriff Preston Crissey said the Highway Patrol attempted to stop a car in Clay County. The driver refused to stop and headed west
at a high rate of speed. Yankton County Deputies and Yankton Police staged near the east city limits as the car approached Yankton.
The car hit a semi and crashed. Two people in the car were dead at the scene, with the third taken to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Names have not been released yet. The highway was closed for several hours as authorities investigated and cleaned up the crash site.
