Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan isn’t ruling anyone in or out as the team searches for its next manager.
But he’s making it clear the Twins are seeking a fresh perspective in the dugout after four straight seasons of at least 92 losses.
Ryan is promising to “change the voice and change the presence.”
Paul Molitor is seen as a favorite to succeed Ron Gardenhire since he was added to the coaching staff for the 2014 season. The St. Paul native is a Hall of Famer who spent 10 years as a minor league instructor.
The other internal candidates could be bench coach Terry Steinbach and minor league skippers Doug Mientkiewicz (mint-KAY’-vich) and Gene Glynn. Outside candidates could include New York Yankees bench coach Tony Pena, who interviewed with Ryan in 2001 and was hired the following year in Kansas City.
