The Houston-Minnesota game was postponed Wednesday by persistent rain that started in the third inning and was forecast to last throughout the night.

Major League Baseball made the decision after a 2½-hour delay. The game will be played Thursday night in the second half of a doubleheader, following the regularly scheduled game which starts at 12:10.

That means the 5-0 lead the Twins took off Dallas Kuechel has vanished. After Brian Dozier hit a leadoff home run, the Twins tagged the 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner with four more runs in the second before the skies opened up 53 minutes into the game and the customers hurried for cover.

Conveniently, this was the night white umbrellas designed to look like baseballs were given away to the first 10,000 fans.
