The Minnesota Twins began spring training games Thursday by taking on the University of Minnesota and gaining a 2-1 victory.

Using mainly minor league players, the Twins pushed across runs in the first and ninth innings for the win. The deciding tally scored on a wild pitch.

The Twins face the Boston Red Sox on Friday.
