Minnesota Twins pitcher Logan Lombana has been suspended for 80 games and Kansas City Royals prospect Raul Mondesi has been suspended for 50 games for testing positive for banned substances.
The commissioner’s office said Tuesday that Lombana tested positive for the banned performance-enhancing substance Ibutamoren. Mondesi has been suspended for testing positive for clenbuterol, a banned steroid.
A 21-year-old right-hander drafted from Long Beach State in the 25th round last summer, Lombana has a 3.38 ERA and no record in seven relief appearances this year for Cedar Rapids of the Class-A Midwest League.
Mondesi is the son of former NL Rookie of the Year Raul Mondesi and was optioned to AA.
