Minnesota Twins prospect Ryan Costello has been found dead in his hotel room in New Zealand days after joining his team in the Australian Baseball League.

The club says the 23-year-old third baseman died in his sleep. No cause has been given.

Concerns were raised when Costello failed to report for practice days before the Auckland Tuatara open their season.
