Minnesota Twins right-hander Phil Hughes will begin the season on the disabled list with a strained left oblique.

Outfielder Ryan LaMarre beat out Zack Granite for a reserve spot on the opening day 25-man roster. The Twins will select the contract of LaMarre to complete their roster.
