The Minnesota Twins intend to add eight players to their roster, including catcher Josmil Pinto and four pitchers.

The moves were announced Monday before Minnesota concluded a four-game series at Camden Yards. The players were expected to join the team Tuesday, when the Twins host the Chicago White Sox.

Those recalled from Rochester were left-hander Logan Darnell, right-hander Michael Tonkin and outfielders Chris Herrman and Aaron Hicks.

Minnesota also selected the contracts of right-handers Lester Oliveros and A.J. Achter, along with infielder Doug Bernier.

The Twins had been playing with just three position players on the bench.

Manager Ron Gardehire said: “We need some bodies. This will be huge to get a bunch of fresh people in here.”
