Thanksgiving is only a couple of days away and many people still need to select the holiday centerpiece turkey for their Thanksgiving meal. Following the outbreak of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza this year, some may wonder about the supply of turkey. Greta Irwin serves as the executive director with the Iowa Turkey Federation and says despite the outbreak of the bird flu, this Thanksgiving consumers should have no problem finding a turkey for their holiday meal.
Although food prices have increased over the past year, and the cost of preparing a Thanksgiving meal for ten people has been estimated to have gone up by as much as 20 percent, Irwin says the cost of purchasing a turkey is still fairly modest.
Irwin offers some tips to remember when cooking turkey.
