Turkey Industry Rebounding after Bird Flu

Turkey Industry Rebounding after Bird Flu

A recent AgriBank report says the turkey industry is rebounding as flocks are rebuilt and prices remain high. That’s following last year’s devastation caused by the highly pathogenic avian influenza. Minnesota is the leading turkey producing state in the nation. Turkey Grower’s Executive Director Steve Olson says most of their growers have recovered from last year’s bird flu and are doing well.

He says the other positive is that the export market for U.S. turkey has rebounded.

Olson says a Mexican trade delegation was recently in Minnesota and were pleased with the recovery in the turkey industry.

Olson says the other good news is that they haven’t seen any problems yet from the spring bird migration.
