President Donald Trump has nominated Deputy Interior Secretary David Bernhardt to become that agency’s secretary. If confirmed, Bernhardt would replace Ryan Zinke who resigned that post amid ethics scandals in January. Public Lands Council Executive Director Ethan Lane says his group is pleased with the nomination and thinks he brings great knowledge and leadership skills to the job.
He says Bernhardt shares the Public Lands Council’s views on the need to streamline and revamp the Endangered Species Act.
Lane says they’re already visiting with Senators pushing for Bernhardt’s confirmation.
Lane says they’re hoping for quick confirmation of Bernhardt to the post.
