Trump Immigration Policy Making Reform More Urgent for Agriculture

The Trump administration has taken a hard stance on illegal immigrants. And memos handed out this week by the Department of Homeland Security make it easier to deport any person in the U.S. illegally. Minnesota Milk Producer’s Association President Dave Buck says this points to the need for immigration reform as soon as possible, because his industry relies on year-round workers.

He says the H2A guest worker program doesn’t work for dairy producers because it’s only seasonal.

Buck says his group has spoken with Congress in the past about the immigration issue and will continue working with them to find a viable solution.

Buck is pleased House Ag Committee Chairman Michael Conaway recognizes the immigration labor problem and has said agriculture has to find a way to get a national guest worker program.
