The Trump administration has delayed several regulations including the GIPSA Farmer Fair Practice Rules for at least sixty days. Dave Warner with the National Pork Producers Council says they are pleased with the action because if allowed to take effect the rules would be detrimental to the pork industry.

He says having the GIPSA rule put on hold will give the pork industry time to work with Congress and the Administration on changes that will make the measure workable for pork producers.

Warner says another proposed rule halted by executive order was the animal welfare organic regulation, which is also positive.

Warner says the animal welfare organic rule runs counter to best management practices already being done by pork producers.
