The Trump Administration announced today a $16 billion dollar aid package for U.S. farmers and ranchers. Included in that is $14.5 billion for payments to producers, $1.4 billion in food purchases and $100 million in the ag trade promotion program. USDA Chief Economist Dr. Robert Johannson says it will be figured on a county rate with each county having different levels.
Ag Department Undersecretary Bill Northey says the payments will be distributed at three different times during the year.
Northey says there will also be payments made to dairy and pork producers but no rates have yet been announced.
The $16 billion in aid is up from the first market facilitation program which authorized $12 billion in funding.
