Tripp-Delmont School District Facing Tough Decisions

The Tripp-Delmont school board is looking at a number of options for the future of their district, and none of them are very positive. Superintendent Gail Swenson says they have been dealing with a drastic drop in student enrollment, which is leading to those tough decisions…..

The board at their meeting this week also talked about possible dissolution of the district.
The district has lost almost forty percent of its enrollment in the past fifteen years, and now has about one hundred sixty students in K through 12.

Swenson says the changes in school funding passed by the legislature this year has pushed them down this road…..

Swenson says they may need to move to the new opt out option fairly soon….

She says they have talked to the Parkston and Armour school districts about possible consolidation, but no formal decisions have been made.
