The Environmental Protection Agency has analyzed the supplemental environmental impact statement of the Keystone XL Pipeline and noted climate concerns with the project. Indigenous Environmental Network Executive Director Dallas Goldtooth says that’s a change in direction for the agency but shows their concern about the possible negative effects of the project.
Goldtooth says EPA’s take along with the President’s recent comments on climate change will likely lead him to reject Keystone XL and Congress doesn’t have enough votes to override an expected Presidential veto of their approval of the pipeline.
Goldtooth adds that the tribes have had a large effect on influencing federal agencies and the President in their response to Keystone XL.
Goldtooth says his group, the tribes and others will continue to fight Keystone Xl as the process goes along.
