Tribal Week of Action Offers Insurance Options

The Rural Office of Community Services in Lake Andes wants more Native Americans to take advantage of insurance options offered under the Affordable Care Act. Local navigator, Jennifer Grassrope says the “Tribal Week of Action” will be an opportunity to educate tribal members about the benefits of health insurance and also offer free enrollment assistance…

Grassrope says tribal members can still use the Indian Health Service, but they also have the ability to get insurance through the marketplace. She says local navigators can help members from start to finish…

ROCS will hold the events at the Golden Buffalo Casino on the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation on April 19th from 11am to 4pm; the Fort Randall Casino on the Yankton Sioux Reservation on April 20th from 11am to 4pm; the Sinte Gleska University Job Fair on the Rosebud Sioux reservation on April 21st from 10am to 3pm; and the Lode Star Casino on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation on April 22nd from 11am to 5pm.
