The State-Tribal Relations Committee of the South Dakota legislature will move ahead with a Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative. That was one outcome of their meeting in Pierre yesterday (Monday).

The committee was also updated on economic development, education and social services.

Representative Troy Heinert of Mission says one of those issues drives the rest…

Representative Elizabeth May of Kyle says it is very difficult to raise business capital on the states reservations…

May says until there are more jobs on the reservations, it will be difficult to move ahead on other issues…

The committee decided to leave that issue to the 2015 legislature.
