The James River Water Development District Board of Directors will talk about long term planning at their meeting next week.
District Manager Dave Bartel says an ongoing issue they face is the number of trees that continue to fall into the river……

Bank erosion and flooding over the years have contributed to trees clogging up stretches of the river.
Bartel says it will be a real problem the next time there is flooding along the slow moving river…..

Previous cleanout efforts have concentrated on a few major bridges over the river. Cost is the major roadblock to any major clean out projct.
The Board will meet May 11th in Alexandria.
