Augustana College senior Jenelle Trautmann has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Trautmann batted .571 with eight hits, including three home runs in five games last Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev.
Trautmann, a senior from Hastings, Minn., had a huge weekend in the season-opening games for the Vikings last weekend at the Desert Stinger. Trautmann batted .571 with a double and three home runs while driving in 13 runs compiling a 1.286 slugging percentage as the Vikings started the season 3-2. Tratumann opened the season going 1 for 3 with a three-run home run in a win over Regis.
In the first of three games on Saturday, Trautmann matched her career-high with four hits going 4 for 4 with a double and four RBI against Montana State-Billings. She followed that up by going 2 for 2 with two home runs and five RBI against Western Oregon. In the finale, Trautmann went 1 for 3 with an RBI against Humboldt State and was named to the Desert Stinger All-Tournament team.
She also made four pitching appearances, including two starts, posting a 2-0 record. She tossed one complete game and struck out 16 batters in 21 innings of work, compiling a 3.67 ERA.
