A pair of Congressional leaders have differing views on the chances for passing a Water Resources Development Act Bill during the lame duck session. Peter DeFazio the top Democrat on the House Transportation Committee thinks the chances for passage aren’t good. However, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Jim Inhofe thinks it will be approved. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek sees them moving forward on WRDA.
He says Congress wants to get the WRDA measure completed and signed into law before the end of the year.
Steenhoek says WRDA is critical for agriculture and it’s even more important Congress take timely steps to pass this type of measure.
While Congressman DeFazio doesn’t think there will be much legislating done in the next few weeks, Senator Inhofe disagrees.
