American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman says Congress needs to find a way to keep the federal highway trust fund from running out of money. He made those remarks at his group’s annual meeting in San Diego this week. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek shares those concerns. He says the problem is the U.S. is using a fixed source of revenue to meet its infrastructure needs.
Steenhoek says his coalition has come up with at least a partial funding solution for more sustainable infrastructure funding.
Steenhoek says the highway trust fund is a critical component for all farm to market roads which effects every producer across the nation.
Congress has had to transfer $ 8 Billion to $ 9.7 Billion in annual funds in recent years to prop up the Highway Trust Fund.
