A just released poll done by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers shows 74 percent of registered voters nationwide back passage of the Water Resources Development Act or WRDA bill. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says while that’s positive, most people don’t look at infrastructure unless there’s a problem.

He says what’s helped convince people of the need for spending money on infrastructure upkeep is the education agricultural groups have been doing.

Steenhoek says it’s critical that the benefits of infrastructure are shown to both policymakers and the general public.

Steenhoek says Americans usually don’t oppose spending money for needed projects, what they object to is wasteful spending.
