This week, President Donald Trump met with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to talk about the prospects of putting together and passing an infrastructure bill this year. The trio agreed to pursue a $2 trillion infrastructure measure. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says it’s positive they were able to meet and agree on moving forward.
He says they also promised to meet in three weeks to continue discussing how to get the legislation going.
Steenhoek says the tough part will be to find how to pay for the bill. He says comparing at $2 trillion measure to what the highway trust fund generates indicates how big a problem it is.
Steenhoek sees this week’s meeting as at least reaching a starting point on infrastructure.
