This week President Trump signed major infrastructure legislation that provides $6.1 billion dollars for 12 major inland waterways projects. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek is pleased that’s been approved and is hoping it sets the stage for even more infrastructure development going forward.

He says this signing represents the government getting back to a two year cycle of funding for infrastructure projects.

Steenhoek says in order for ag exports to flow freely, it’s critical the government move ahead with funding the upkeep, maintenance and development of rural bridges.

Steenhoek says there are several rural states applying for that federal grant funding to help with their bridge maintenance and upkeep.
